New Delhi: Government properties are going to be privatized on a large scale in the country. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has announced a Rs 6 lakh crore National Monetization Pipeline (NMP). Under NMP, monetization of passenger trains, railway stations to airports, roads, and stadiums are included. The government says that resources will be mobilized and properties will be developed by involving private companies in these infrastructure sectors. Find out how much stake the government is selling in 13 properties including highways, railways, and telecom.In fact, under the NMP, investment possibilities of six lakh crore rupees are estimated through the main assets of the central government in four years from the financial year 2022 to the financial year 2025.All these properties will continue to be owned by the government: FMFinance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, “The properties which are already in NMP, need to be better monetized. Ownership of the property will remain with the government and it will be mandatory to return their control after a certain time. Therefore, there should be no ambiguity that the government is selling anything.” This is not the case. These are existing assets, which will continue to be owned by the government.More than half of the scheme is connected to Roads and RailwaysIt is substantial to note that more than half of the scheme is connected to the Road and Railway sector. About 25 airports, 40 railway stations, 15 railway stadiums, and several railway colonies of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) including Chennai, Bhopal, Varanasi, and Vadodara have been identified to gain private investment. 6 Lakh crore rupees The largest part of the project will come from the monetization of 26,700 km of existing national highways and new roads.
1.2 Lakh crore rupees There will be monetization of 400 railway stations, 90 passenger trains, 741 km long Konkan Railway, and 15 railway stadiums and colonies.
45,200 Crores 28,608 circuit kilometers of electricity will be met by monetization of transmission lines.
39,832 Crores Six gigawatts of electricity will come from generating assets.
35,100 Crores In the telecom sector, 86 lakh km of Bharat Fibernet and 14,917 signal towers of BSNL and MTNL will be monetized.
29,000 Crores Will come from monetization of Go downs and coal mines.
24,462 Crores Will come from the monetization of 8,154 km long natural gas pipelines.
22,504 Crores Will come from the monetization of 3,930 kilometers of pipelines.
20,782 Crores Will come from monetization of airports

11,450 Crores Will come from the monetization of two national stadiums, including the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi and two regional centers located in Bengaluru and Zirakpur.
15,000 Crores 7 residential colonies including Sarojini Nagar and Nauroji Nagar in Delhi will be mobilized for redevelopment as well as development of housing/commercial units on 240 acres of land at Ghitorni.
