Afghanistan celebrates its Independence Day on 19 August. They gained independence from British control on August 19 in 1919 following the signing of the Anglo-Afghan treaty. Rashid Khan is currently in England playing The Hundred while his family is still in Afghanistan as the Taliban took over. He opened up about his worries to England’s former cricketer Kevin Pietersen.”We had a long chat here on the boundary talking about it and he (Rashid Khan) is worried: he can’t get his family out of Afghanistan and there’s a lot of things happening for him,” Kevin Pietersen told Sky Sports. On the other hand, Afghanistan Cricket Board’s CEO Hamid Shinwari told news agency PTI, “Taliban loves cricket. They have supported us since the beginning. They did not interfere in our activities.”
